Research about Discrimination against homosexual people

In my research I learned that some people discriminate against homosexual people because they believe that it goes against their religion and God. People also appose same sex marriage because we wouldn't have many generations to come because the homosexual couple wouldn't be able to reproduce. Many people are beaten up or even killed because of what they believe. States have laws against gay marriage and people protest against it. This has become a very big debate but I don't think it's ok for anyone to discriminate against someone because they're different from you. I think everyone should respect each and every opinion someone has.
